About
Tom Smeyers (DJ / Producer) channels the spirit of the '90s—New York house, Detroit techno, intelligent drum & bass, and ambient—while carving out a sound that's unmistakably his own.
With over seven years as a resident at Brussels' iconic La Cabane until its closure, Tom became a trusted selector, shaping countless warm-up and closing sets for an array of international guests. In parallel, he held down a bi-monthly Sunday slot at Kiosk Radio Brussels alongside Red D and Lefto, while also being part of the We Bring You collective—playing across the city's nightlife circuit and hosting a monthly weekend show on Bruzz.
His upcoming album "Same Same, But Different" unfolds like a DJ set: step by step, without pressure. Built entirely from his own productions, it embraces imperfection: raw drum machine grooves, warm pads, and lo-fi textures that breathe with character. Eclectic, honest, and true to the machine, the record marks his entry into the We Play House family, led by Red D.
Tom first made waves with his debut "Back & Forth EP" on his own SneakerFreaks Music imprint—a 90s-tinged New York house release that caught the ears of Kerri Chandler, Tom Trago, Bicep, Soul Clap, and Ryan Elliott, climbing to #2 on the Decks House Music Buzz chart. His remix of Jaguar Jaguar's "You Got Me" earned notable airplay, followed by "Paradise For The Restless Souls EP" on Antwerp's Welcome To Vice City.
Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Tom's sound is deeply rooted in the legacy of artists like Glenn Underground, Ron Trent, Chez Damier, Kerri Chandler, Carl Craig and Mike Huckaby—filtered through a contemporary lens that keeps it fresh, personal, and real.
